This tree is a living testament to why we Africans of the Diaspora - TopicsExpress

This tree is a living testament to why we Africans of the Diaspora must remember & honour mother Africa. Trees live a lifetime of sometimes millenia; there are olive trees still managing to bear fruit in Palestine that were around at the time of Jesus. Which of the trees still standing, in Banjul & Dakar, have trunks bearing our hand prints, embedded in the bark the shredded skin of our palms & bits of broken finger nail as we struggled against being taken across the Atlantic, how many must have borne witness to our distress, how many must bear bitter fruit watered with our tears; our parting gift to mother Africa. I am inspired to pen a poem about this. It will be entitled Bagamoyo.
