This was emailed to me; If only I could speak to you To help ease your pain Mommy and Daddy, I’d tell you that it’s okay, I have no complaints From the moment that I was born Until I take my last breathe, I know that there are no better parents That a daughter could ever get It started out just like we thought With bottles, diapers, and sleepless nights, And as time went on… You knew that something wasn’t right Like you always say A Mommy knows best, We learned that to be true When we received the results from my test. But it’s okay, Mommy and Daddy You didn’t do anything wrong, As a matter of fact you did everything right My time just wasn’t meant to be that long Why? Nobody really knows And I agree it isn’t fair, But all I could have ever asked for Was a family that cares I got that and beyond My family stretches the globe, There are so many people that love me People that we don’t even know They say I am their hero But I am just a little girl, Just doing what I was meant to do To make a difference in this world. It’s okay. Really. It’s okay. Mommy. Daddy. My big sisters… When I go I won’t be far And you’ll always have my pictures! You can even keep my Elmo dolls That all my friends sent for me to have, It always helped having him around Try and tickle him—he laughs! So life was a little different for me But we cherish each and every day, Do you think we would be as grateful of each other Had it not been this way? My disease needs to be stopped And I was chosen to make that happen, You guys made this all possible So don’t ever be saddened We, together, will change the world My friends and family as my voice, I may not be able to speak But that don’t mean I can’t make noise. So I didn’t get to do the things That most kids get to do, But what kids get to say They had a mommy and daddy like you! So, just know, I feel lucky I have received the greatest love from you both, And if I had the ability to write I would leave you a little note It would say: I love you Mommy and Daddy I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way, I will always be right here with you And just know that it’s okay.
