This was my letter to the Union Railway Minister on running train - TopicsExpress

This was my letter to the Union Railway Minister on running train from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi via Sambalpur and particlarly Rajdhani Express which will originate from Bhubaneswar and pass through Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and onwards. Bhabani Shankar Hota (M) 9437051424 E-mail: bhabanihota@gmail Budharaja, Sambalpur (Odisha) Pin: 768004 Date: 22 December, 2012 To Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal, Hon’ble Minister of Railway, Government of India, Rail Bhavan, New Delhi. Sir, I am to draw your kind attention to neglect of Central and Western Odisha in particular and Odisha in general. 1. The East Coast Railway has announced a special train from Bhubaneswar (BBS) to New Delhi (NDLS) which is similar to the Duronto Express. This is one way of increasing the frequency of the Duronto Express. While we welcome it, I must state here that the Central and Western Odisha is inadequately connected to New Delhi. Practically there is only one train on three days a week which runs from Visakhapatnam to Amritsar. Kindly have a look at the train services from Puri-Bhubaneswar via Cuttack-Bhadrak-Balasore and Jharkhand, West Bengal etc. BBS-NDLS Duronto Express 12281 BBS-NDLS Rajdhani Express 22811 Puri-NDLS Neelachal Express 12875 Puri-NDLS Nandan Kanan Express 12815 BBS-NDLS Sampark Kranti Express 12829 Puri-NDLS Purusottam Express 12801 Puri-Haridwar (Via-NZM) Exp 18477 I shall welcome if you introduce many more trains to New Delhi from Bhubaneswar. It is nothing if we compare it with trains from Patna-Kolkata-Lucknow-Allahabad and other North-South-West Stations. 2. In this connection, I would like to mention here that the running time and distance covered (excluding the period of flood and fog) by these trains calculated from Bhubaneswar on an average is about 35 hours for Express trains and about 24 hours for Rajdhani Express and 22 hours for Duronto for a distance of 1762 kms. If you kindly compare this with train no.18507 (Visakhapatnam-Amritsar) the running time from Bhubaneswar to H.NZM is about 31 hours and the distance is about 1584 kms. In actual calculation by Railway experts it may be marginally more or less. If additional Sampark Kranti Express and or Rajdhani Express is run in the route of 18507 the running time could not be more than 20 hours in case of Rajdhani Exp and 23 hours in case of Sampark Kranti Exp. But apart from Bhubaneswar-Cuttack the other stations (districts) those will be covered are Dhenkanal-Angul-Sambalpur-Jharsuguda-Rayagarh etc. The people of Bargarh-Bolangir-Sundergarh will also get access to it. It may be pertinent to mention here that the Industrial belt of Dhenkanal-Angul-Sambalpur-Jharsuguda-Rayagarh is very fast developing (in fact it is already) industrial hub of India. 3. The people of Odisha State Capital and for that matter people of Cuttack will travel about 178 kms less and consequently the fare will also be reduced proportionately. In view of the facts stated above, I would request you to get it examined at the appropriate level and consider introducing Sampark Kranti Express for three days in a week and Rajdhani Express for four days in a week via Dhenkanal-Angul-Sambalpur-Jharsuguda-Rayagarh to benefit the people of Odisha and particularly the people of Central and Western Odisha and also Chhattisgarh. Further take steps to make the Vishakhapatnam-Amritsar Express daily with extra and good coaches. Thanking you. Yours faithfully, B.S.Hota Former Member (Lok Sabha) Sambalpur
