This was not good and not amusing; but it amused me and I believe - TopicsExpress

This was not good and not amusing; but it amused me and I believe it might amuse you, too. You are not happy that you have regained your freedom, a Policemans intimidating question to a guy that was already bailed; but whose pair of trousers got lost at the counter. I experienced what Im about to narrate to you when I was at Police station for a case between I and someone or let me clearly, say between I and a group of people though, obviously, led by one guy. If what I experienced at the counter, at the Police station; which I call funny drama didnt amuse me, perhaps it wouldnt have helped ameliorate my anger-punctuated heart. Then, if my definition of counter as nothing other than where complain is lodged in Police station is correct, good; but if its not, please forgive me for Im just trying to make the definition of counter understandable at a glance for all of us (Facebook friends). I sat behind the counter, on a bench, I suppose existed during the old East Central State(E.C.S), pondering what would be the end result of my case when something unexpectedly, happened; and my lips beamed when I knew I wasnt prepared for any smile; but then, I had to, there was need for it. Let someone out there do not ask me why that series of smiles. The reason was simple, so simple. It was my ears; my ears was the reason why I beamed. It eavesdropped, what was like explanation; and on the other way round, like an argument. Anyway, I couldnt figure out what it was. All I know is that the people involved in the drama were two: Police workers (male & female). I cant say for sure if any of the Police on duty has a rank; the both wore clothes that covered their uniforms. Anyway, that was just that. The second person was a boy, (that was detained but was bailed). I couldnt believe the guy still had the courage to contend with the Police again after he was bailed out. The way he looked, showed that he was beaten up by a group of people. It could be the Police and it could not be the Police. Well, I didnt know. Can I have that guys type of courage? Perhaps l can. How my ears eavesdropped whatever they were saying was just like the way eyes perused good topics, perused nicely mass communicators scripted headlines, from daily newspapers. What happened and how it happened was funny just as I said earlier. And Im laughing again, Im still laughing. Im ready to go back to the cell than this your so called freedom regained, the guy accurately, explained or courageously, replied the Policeman. The way the Policeman reacted showed me that the guy hit him hard, just that a man fighting a man with power must finally, go injured. The guy that engaged the two Police on duty in a well defined argument, that Im about to narrate what he suffered at the hands of the two Police workers at the counter should be in his late 20s, finely built and light skinned - handsome; but how he was dressed confused me at first. He wore an underpants, covered with light green T-shirt - dirt encrusted body. When I glanced at him first, I thought he came to repair something, just a thing not far from back chair for the Police; but later, I understood he was detained. Nonetheless, that he was detained wasnt the issue. Arresting and detaining Police prey if right or wrong is no news in my Nigeria where I come from. If one that has already fallen a prey in the hands of a Policeman is not detained, would whoever comes to bailout whoever involved take the Police serious especially, when bargaining for money? I guess Nigerian Police is automatically, right to detain whoever they arrested if right or wrong; and in that way, money is generated to the Police purse. But if the Police who made the arrest decides to keep whatever he/she realized in his custody; good and fine. After all we are Nigerians and he/she works for the Nigerian Police. Hahahaha! One beautiful mistake I made was that I didnt ask the guy where he is from to ascertain the end of their drama because I didnt watch the end of it all. The IPO in charge of my case called me to come and make my statement; then I left without knowing how the drama ended. Oh! I ought to have asked him where he hails. I had that opportunity to ask him. Perhaps why I forgot to ask him was because I was been driven by my curiosity to understand what he was zealously, searching for. How he was bent on searching for what I didnt know what he was searching in the space under the counter is still very clear in my minds eyes. The other lady, sitting beside the male Police, kept telling or instructing the guy to keep searching his pair of trousers. That was the much advice from her; and that was her offense to me. It was her duty to clear who was bailed. How I understood the guy who was detained; and was then released was when he insisted on not going out, on not stepping an inch from the counter unless the people, those Police on duty, sitting behind the counter, those that extorted extra one thousand naira apart from the reasonable amount of money the IPO in charge of the guys case, had harvested from him to aid his bailout even when bailing is free, provide his pair of trousers or furnish him with beyond every reasonable doubt how his pair of trousers got lost from the counter. Even all the caressing, persuading to go, to leave his pair of trousers in the station from another older guy whom I suppose, was the one that bailed him, didnt yield any fruit; it was like rain drooping on rocks; he refused to go unless his pair of trousers was given to him. My question, though to nobody in particular while I watched the drama and before I left to make my statement was, could it be that the guy wore this pants Im seeing with the top, alone to the station? Then, I asked myself again; if he had stepped into the counter as he constantly, claimed, putting on his a pair of trousers, what had all of a sudden happened to his pair of trousers and possibly, its contents? Again, I wondered if those at the counter stole the missing pair of trouser else are they not supposed to give proper documentation and account of whatever they collected from those they send into the cell?
