This was recently in our local paper. Daniel and I arent allowed to post photos of our entire family due to state restrictions... but since it was in the paper, Im taking my chances. The foster care need is important and it should be shared. There are 40 children currently in my county alone waiting for temporary homes. At any given time, there are 300 children (usually teenagers or sibling groups) looking for adoptive families in the state of Kentucky. Talk to your family about becoming a Foster/Adoptive family. Pray about it. Decide if its something you can do. If you have questions, ask me! If I cant answer it, I will put you into contact with someone who can. If becoming a Foster/Adoptive family isnt within your capability, thats okay! Think about becoming a respite family. Foster families are not allowed to leave children in the care of anyone who has not been properly certified. We need trustworthy respite families available to us when we need child care!!! If you cant be a respite family... donate!! Foster children usually come into care with nothing but the clothing on their backs. They need basic necessities, toys, school supplies and clothing. If you cant do any of these things... Pray for all of us! We try to make a difference in the lives of these children. Some days it feels like we are getting nowhere. Some days it feels like were moving mountains. April Townsend Pieper
