This was the report that wouldnt open :) 166. Branden Kelliher, rhp, Lake Stevens HS R-R, 6-0/180, Lake Stevens, Wash. College Commitment: Oregon Kelliher packs a big punch into a medium sized frame. In past years pitching prospects like him have been overlooked coming out of high school because of their lack of size, only to become high level draft prospects coming out of college three years later. It seems that there are some organizations that have heeded the history lessons of those types, and as a result, Kelliher has a chance to be selected in an early round this year despite being a part of an often overlooked demographic – undersized righthanded high school pitchers. He runs his fastball up to 94 mph and has two quality off-speed offerings in an upper-70s curveball and a low-80s changeup, all of which he throws for strikes. The fact that Kelliher happens to be a part of one of the most historically loaded high school classes in terms of the number of power arms doesnt help make up for his lack of size, but he has good stuff, and if he shows interest in signing out of high school he will be taken seriously as a 2014 draft prospect, otherwise he could be drafted early coming out of Oregon in 2017.
