This was what i observed in the miss tourism laikipia. The event was relatively successful and attended especially by the town folk. the leadership and the elites of laikipia north were conspicously absent. the cultural groups inclusivity for laikipia communities was poor. Why were there no performances or attendees from pokots, turkana, borana etc.?The ms tourism laikipia was dominated by one community save for one luo lady. What was the criteria used to select the contestants?I expected a balanced selection criteria that would take cognizance of the diversity of the laikipan population. This almost killed the theme of cohesion and integration in the conservation efforts. The event drew girls mostly from the towns whose conservation/tourism knowledge is more academic rather than a daily experience. The organisers may have had good intentions but they need always to consult further so as to come up with a good all inclusive group of contestants.
