This week I have gone to a yoga, pilates, and kickboxing class... All of which have inspired some ideas for a group exercise class* that could end up including: -20 minutes of full body strength training exercises indoors at the start. I would keep it simple by having people partner up in groups of 2 and supply them with a few different dumbbell sizes (heavy/medium/light). Do at least one movement for every major muscle group (expect squats and lunges and presses and so on). One person spots/observes form/offers encouragement while the other kicks butt. Rinse, wash, repeat. -20 minutes of fun cardio circuits outdoors. There is a big hill outside so Id make use of that, also neat things with jump ropes. -10 minutes of calming yoga, reflection, relaxation, and meditation in a dimly lit room. Sounds like fun, dont ya think? :) * This class would be occurring at the YMCA of Bristol (Wellness Center branch on State St.). If youre not local, sorry for your lots; but I am also working on a fun training program that includes creative ways to squeeze exercise into your hectic schedule... and I *could* possibly use a few guinea pigs to try that out later*... so leave a comment if that sounds helpful and is something youre interested in (and will not flake out on; action-takers only, please!).
