This week has involved veld fires as well as poaching. Acorn - TopicsExpress

This week has involved veld fires as well as poaching. Acorn arrived hungry, dehydrated and scared. After losing his mother in a veld fire he was lucky to be rescued and brought to us. With his umbilicus cord still attached, we estimate that he is no older than a few days. We will keep you posted. Late on Sunday CID Minerals contacted us to let us know they had arrested a pangolin poacher and retrieved one pangolin. We collected the pangolin, only to find that she was in fact a very young pangolin who would still be with her mother if they were still in the wild. We are not sure of the whereabouts of the mother and sadly feel that the mother might not have made it. The little girl is dehydrated, incredibly thin and too weak to walk at this point. We will monitor her throughout the night. Anyone who has worked with pangolin before will know that these amazing animals are very difficult to work with, having endured so much stress her survival is unsure of at this point.
