This weekend was insightful, encouraging, and engaging. Youth from all over the country met for the National youth convention for the House of the Lord church. Delegates from all over the country poured into the nations capital where we sang, praised, shouted, but ultimately engaged in thought provoking and intellectual conversation about the contemporary issues of the day. I was also interviewed for CNN at the Dr. King memorial about the Presidents remarks on race. Most importantly, as national body, we were able to engage in discussions around the Trayvon Martin situation and trial verdict. Youth were able to express themselves, confusion, frustration, fear, inferiority. We created a 5 point plan of action to adress the frustrations and needs of our youth across the country. It will be disseminated in Black press on wednesday, and presented to the social media public tomorrow. We sincerely hope you will join us in our efforts and keep the discussions and movements going. This is a great opportunity to recliam our communities and strengthen our youth in a troubling time. Planning sessions in Jersey City NJ will be held Wednesday night at 7pm (assembling at 6:30 pm), and in Brooklyn New York Thursday night at the same time. We will be moving South next week. Please join us. Express your feelings and thoughts, and join us in action as we will make our voices heard socially, politically, and spiritually. There is a place for everyone! We will be working with coalition groups to make our voices heard, and positively effect change for our youth and our communities. We hope you will join the many youth across the country who feel passionately about effecting change in thier communities and ultimately the country. We use this moment to rededicate ourselves to the struggle for freedom, equality, and justice.
