This weekends 40th anniversary of The Game brings back some - TopicsExpress

This weekends 40th anniversary of The Game brings back some amazing memories. I had left the press box at Spartan Stadium at halftime, as normal, to prepare for the WVIC post-game show. Im listening our legendary station owner and play-by-play announcer, Bob Sherman, as time winds down: Baggett takes the snap, hands it to Jackson. Look at that hole! 88 yards later Levi was mobbed in the south endzone. I spent much of the postgame sharing Bobs call of that play with radio stations across the nation (this was decades before the internet made that easy ... we fed each station individually with a telephone coupler). Later I had the chance to see the same play as it was broadcast on ABC television. It was even more memorable because ABCs color commentator for that broadcast was one Hugh Duffy Daugherty. All he could do was wail like an Irish banshee. (The legendary Chris Schenkel provides the play-by-play.) The remainder of the video is the final OSU drive that ends up 6-inches and 1-second short of the endzone.
