This weekends song, part 2 In case you missed part 1: Last - TopicsExpress

This weekends song, part 2 In case you missed part 1: Last week, we featured a song that started out with theres no time for us ... theres no place for us. A bit of a downer, even if the song tried to lift the mood later on. But the words themselves just sounded so ... familiar. Lets visit two songs that start out with the reverse lyrics. Today, Place. Todays song directly contradicts what we started out with last week. Even the opening line is Theres a place for us (That is not the title of the song, BTW, the title is Somewhere). You have probably heard the Barbra Streisand version, but the song has been covered by just about everybody who can hold a tune. Originally though, it comes from the musical West Side Story. LYRICS Theres a place for us Somewhere a place for us Peace and quiet and open air Wait for us somewhere Theres a time for us Someday therell be a time for us Time together with time to spare Time to learn, time to care Someday, somewhere Well find a new way of living Well find theres a way of forgiving Somewhere, somewhere, somewhere Theres a place for us A time and a place for us Hold my hand and were half way there Hold my hand and Ill take you there Somehow, someday, somewhere OK, not a lot of religious content in this one, I have to admit. Except that this is a song all about hope. Hope, longing for something better is a key driver of religious belief and activity. Also note that none of all these nice things are going to happen unless we find a way of forgiving. Thats a fine religious sentiment. A lot of versions to choose from, but I am picking this one by the Supremes. Why? Because Diana Ross, of course. https://youtube/watch?v=A36xxhKnVvQ
