This week’s meditation from Bishop Houck, Catholic Extension President Emeritus: Easter! The Resurrection of Jesus Christ! “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad, alleluia! Christians throughout the world rejoice, celebrate and sing alleluia! Jesus our Christ has risen from the dead verifying his claim to be the Son of God and giving us an invitation and ability to follow his way of life. By accepting we can help make God’s family and our world what God really wants us to be. Having finished our Lenten Season, we now have Eastertime—fifty days to relish with joyful gratitude our share in that victory of Jesus Christ over sin, death and evil. Rejoice you Christians, rejoice! With renewed awareness of the changes in the Apostles after Jesus’ resurrection, what changes will our renewed faith engender in us? As we spend these fifty days, be joyful, upbeat, hopeful, positive yet gentle and caring, giving an example of a new way of living according to the teachings and example of our Risen Savior, Jesus Christ. Be confident. The Holy Spirit empowers us to do just that if our joy is wrapped up in genuine desire. Happy Easter! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! Bishop William R. Houck
