This week’s virtual prayer rhythm was from an adapted version of the Winter prayers from ‘Liturgies from Lindisfarne’ compiled by Ray Simpson. Here is some of what we used and a link to the video clip we watched together: Although the Winter Solstice is on the longest night/shortest day it is not a celebration of darkness, but a celebration of the coming of the light. It is the start of the time of year where the light begins to overcome the darkness, gradually getting greater and greater and seeing that the darkness cannot overcome the light. As we spend our days in the long dark, remind us, Eternal Light, that all darkness passes, and the light rises again. May we not dwell in slumber in the darkness, but as we stand in the darkness remind us to step into the Light Please follow this link for some music (make sure your volume is up). Skip any adverts and click to full screen, then return here: https://youtube/watch?v=wN_Szc9pRt0 Draw us into the womb of darkness, into the wounds, into the silence, there to experience the mysterious work of your hands. Hold us, O God of the cold, dark days, secure in the knowledge that from its wintry depths the earth brings forth a Saviour. Next VPR on Friday January 9th (Midday UK time – see time zone map in our pictures folder to find your time!).
