This will be published in the herald on friday! Cant wait! Line up will be released tommorow. Will tag every act/performer :) SCOUTS from Britain’s Got Talent will be in Plymouth later today (Friday) searching for undiscovered stars to light up the next series of the ITV prime-time hit. A production team from the show, which is presented by Ant & Dec and features a panel of judges including Simon Cowell, will be setting up camp at the Lord Louis Carvery restaurant and pub in Plympton, which also hosted talent scouts from BBC1’s The Voice at an open mic night in May. Like The Voice, representatives from Britain’s Got Talent contacted Plymouth singer songwriter Tom Baker, a former contestant on the Voice who runs a number open mic nights at venues across the city, for the low down on area’s brightest talents – and to arrange a pre-audition to encourage hopefuls to attend the main auditions being held later this year, with Bristol being the furthest venue South West. However, with previous winner Paul Potts being a former University of St Mark and St John student, and city musicians like Tom and Michael Collings enjoying successful runs on the show previously, the BGT Team will be only too aware of how much untapped talent there is right here in Plymouth. Tom told the Herald: “It’s amazing how much talent there is down here and it’s been an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to showcase it to ITV and BBC. “When the BGT team got in touch and asked me to the recommend a venue for them to come and scout for talent, I immediately thought of the Lord Louis because of the fantastic support they have given local performers in the past, and warm and homely front-room style atmosphere it provides. “The management at the Louis have been so supportive of the open mic nights, regularly offering performers solo gigs on the strength of their appearances. “One thing I love to do is to provide as much opportunity and exposure to the unique blend of talent the nights attract. In the past we’ve had everything from champion beatboxers to classically trained guitarists – it’s insane how talented some of these people are. “ I really want to help put Plymouth on the map and show there is lot more homegrown talent than meets the eye. “All the audition slots been filled for the BGT night, but please come down and support Plymouth’s amazing performers and meet the people behind Britain’s Got Talent,” added Tom, who runs open mic nights at the Lord Louis every Tuesday, as well at the Barbican Live Lounge on Mondays and special showcase nights at the Colebrook Inn on Fridays. The Britain’s Got Talent night at the Lord Louis starts at 6pm and runs until 11pm, with over 25 acts showcasing their range of abilities in front of industry experts. Any musicians and singers interested in appearing at future open mic nights can contact Tom on 07533477948.
