Those against US "narrow act" intervention in Syria argue that the massacres in Damascus and earlier mass exterminations in Aleppo have no direct impact on the United States or its interest...how narrow minded. Are they oblivious of the refuge crises already hitting Turkey and Lebanon and the possibilty of Syrians seeking asylum in US? Are they unaware of the shift in balance of power in the volatile region and the growing influence of Iran vis-a-vis the continued threat to the sovereign existence of Israel a major US ally? Granted America is war fatigued, its military budget gripped by austerity but its place in global affairs cannot be undermined.
