Those of You Who Lead Black Studies Programs and Departments, Ponder This: When the White Supremacists who governed the South went to court to defend segregation, they had a lack of social science expertise. The had to rely on ancient professors and lay people to make their case. They did not fair well against the liberal experts working the Courts and lobbying the Congress. While our side won, the fate of the Supremacists case has since stuck in my head as a cautionary tale and as of now I think we have lots of work to do. As we wage this multi-front war against the #policepower, we are in dire need of lawyers and social science experts, too. We need pollsters, demographers, psychologists, public relations experts, policy experts, and people who know their way around state houses. Some of these folks outside of Black Studies circles may step up, but maybe they wont. Remember, many liberals at large simply want law and order, too. Give it some thought.
