Those of us who are Christians became believers because at some point we came to the realization (revelation) that we were eternally lost and without hope apart from Christ, due to our inherent sinfulness. Even as believers, we continue to miss the mark and fall short of His perfect glory, so it is only by His marvelous grace that any of us can be saved. But what happens when a society not only embraces sin, but defends and justifies and even celebrates it? Well, the world gets turned upside-down spiritually speaking, and before long the people caught up in this fallen world system (even some professing Christians) effectively declare war on Christ and denigrate His holy, authoritative Word as being “hateful” and “mean-spirited.” Then they accuse believers who speak the truth of God’s Word in love (as Scripture commands us) of being “bigoted” and “intolerant.” To be sure, they point to Romans 1:18-32 as the MOST hateful words ever written and condemn not only the Bible itself but anyone who dares quote it, for they say this passage is the very definition of “hate speech.” Here, in this short video clip, John MacArthur defends God’s Word (that passage in particular) as being what it really is — love speech. He explains that if the Bible truly is the Word of God, and if there truly is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun, and you truly are a believer who has surrendered to Christ, then you only have two options when it comes to those who are on the path to certain eternal doom: “You either warn them [out of love for them, their eternal souls] or you affirm them. Romans 1 warns them, and every faithful Christian warns them!” No doubt about it...
