Those of you who know me, know I love history. I have been able today to throw in some details on a guy named Truman Everts who was on an expedition into Yellowstone about this time of the month 1870. Although there had been some explorers in Yellowstone prior to that date, it was the first time "upstanding" citizens would tell the story of Wonderland. Everts got separated from the group during a big September snow in the park. From the narrative at least two feet of snow fell. Everts wondered for 37 days before being rescued. Read more in a book called 37 days of Peril. The best version is the one edited by Lee H. Whittlesey. It is available online if you search. I love putting history into the weather, especially when you have so many great details as in this story. I used it on my Yellowstone and Jackson Hole radio stations.
