Those who should never be Governor of Benue state. Governing a state is not child play! It is serious business. Sitting over the fate of more than four million people is serious business. Administering a budget of more than 100 billion naira on behalf the people is terribly serious business. Managing a state with so many diversed cultures, interests, customs, tendencies, and various persuasions, must be serious business. World over, every society is stratified. Every society is hierarchical, every society has sensitivities, values and cherished customs. Above all, every society has aspirations and expectations moving into the future. An elected leader of any modern society must emboby all, or nearly all desired attributes. The Benue society must be same. Benue state is more populated than so many countries, even on the African continent. Benue enjoys the unique geographical location of sprawling midway between the north and the south. Benue sees the good and the bad! Benue is an interface between the north and the south in so many ways. Governing Benue can not be a walk in the park. Benue has a vibrant, volatile, and loud population that loves life to the fullest! There is greater need now to steer the population in the right direction than ever before. Those who hope to govern Benue should have pedigree for social change. Governance should not be entrusted to noisy empty vessels. It should not be given to unknown quantities. The risk will be too high. Governance is neither humility, nor timidity. It is neither for macho thugs nor for meekly good men! It should not be for those who forge their way to the top, nor for sychophants. A governor should know what the issues are and know how to formulate policy capable of attaining set goals. ....
