Though I am grateful there are lot of new networkers out there for the furbabies, I see a lot of misinformation and dangerous things happening on the threads. Having been around for a little while, I do understand a bit of what happens. This is not to create drama, but is to help prevent it. 1. SBC does NOT temp test, volunteers cant even get the dogs out for exercise. 2. SBC does NOT give extensions...they kill when they want to. 3. SBC does NOT have volunteers who will pull a dog to ship to some unknown person across the country. 4. SBC does NOT necessarily check notes in the computer or on the kennel cards..you CANNOT count on that keeping a dog safe. 5. SBC does NOT care who adopts as long as they have the credit card to pay. 6. STOP encouraging private citizens to play wanna be rescuers...adopting dogs out of desperation not as their own companion animal, but with the misguided hope that they will find a rescue and foster later is a recipe for disaster. Check my wall for the results of that idea. 7. STOP and do your due diligence...check out a rescue that shows up out of nowhere that nobody has heard of....and STOP posting huge pledge counts, it attracts the crazies and creates a run for the money that has nothing to do with the welfare of the dog. 8. STOP line tagging rescues...they dont see them. EMAIL rescues or contact someone affiliated with a rescue directly...dogs die because nobody did. 9. PLEDGES do not go to adopters...they go to rescues ONLY. This has many aspects...if this person is out of state..encourage them to rescue in their own area..there are shelters everywhere. If this person is local and thinks they need the pledge money, they shouldnt be adopting..they cant afford to take care of it. 10. ALWAYS shout for a local foster and get them approved...rescues are foster based...they cannot pull a dog if there nowhere for them to safely go. We want to save them all...all we can do is our best...using common sense and working smart for them. RESCUE ON!
