Thought for the Day: The pooling of resources can expand and multiply the desired benefits. If one invests in an endeavor, it is good. If two invest it is better; and, if three and even more invest the rewards grow proportionally. If I give a dollar to an individual, it may get that person something off of the dollar menu. If I go in with others, we can cook a meal and feed more. We might even help the person go from meal to being a contributor. Of course, no one is going to give anything unless they see the need and cares about the ones who are in need. It helps if we can visualize ourselves or family in the same situation. When we do that, it can open our heart from being self-centered to being one that is open for others and their situations. Just recently, an appeal came to me through our denominational channels. It was in an area that I had assumed had already recovered from a natural disaster. Yet, there was still a pressing need and a local church in the area had taken up the need as a project to help those that still were suffering. And…it just so happened that our treasurer asked where was a good place to send a certain mission offering. Voila! Our resources were pooled with others to help complete a task for the Kingdom. The Apostle Paul had asked the Church in Corinth to take up an offering each Sunday for the Christians in Jerusalem who were suffering. When he arrived, he would send it with a letter to the Church in Jerusalem. In another place, he told them that we should be cheerful givers. So, let’s get out of our own realm and into the realm of those who suffer need. Let’s pool our blessings with others so that our investment in the Kingdom might be multiplied for the Kingdom. And, let’s not forget to be cheerful about it.
