Thought for the Day: When we get up in the middle of the night, we might prefer to stumble around rather than turn on the light and get totally awakened. We learn to grope and how to avoid running into things and become accustomed to the darkness. People, who are blind, out of necessity also become accustomed to darkness as well. They learn to make do and to get around in spite of their disability. Of course, they can’t perform as well as a person with sight in this regard but they do get along. Getting accustomed to darkness, stumbling along and making do, holds true not only for those without natural sight but also is the order of the day for many of those who are without spiritual light. These are blind and without sight in regard to spiritual things; but, the order of the day is to continue on stumbling along in their lives, groping instead of seeing and running in to walls and dead ends. Whereas, I would think that most all people who are blind would rather have sight, many of those without spiritual light and spiritual sight would rather continue in their darkness because they have become accustomed to it. However, we need not continue to stumble and grope along in life because Jesus Christ is the Light of the World and He has come that we may be able to see The Way. He is shining on your life right now; so go ahead and open your eyes, take in the Light and see what He has in store for you. Scripture for the Day: Matthew 4:12-17 Now when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee. He left Nazareth and made his home in Capernaum by the lake, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: ‘Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali, on the road by the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.’ From that time Jesus began to proclaim, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Let Us Pray: Dark and cheerless is the morn unaccompanied by Thee; Joyless is the day’s return till Thy mercy’s beams I see; till they inward light impart, glad my eyes, and warm my heart. Visit then this soul of mine, pierce the gloom of sin and grief; fill me, Radiancy Divine, scatter all my unbelief; more and more Thyself display, shining to the perfect day. Amen.
