Thought of the morning: Interesting portion I read in Ebony and Ivy that is directly related to the current designation of what it means to be a responsible black person in this world... Professor John King Lord [of Dartmouth] recalled Jenny Wentworth as a “good nigger,” his term for a pious, hardworking black person. This is interesting because there really is no difference today concerning what the typical white person feels towards what makes a black person pious or not...Invariably, when you boil down almost every compliment I have heard white people direct towards black people throughout history, it has boiled down to he or she is a HARD WORKER...Even the piety description is directly correlated to the hard work narrative because if you are truly christian then the manifestation of this will be in your work ethic....That is pretty much it...And I think most Negroes would agree with this assessment and sadly take pride in it, back then and DEFINITELY today...I cant tell you how much pride I have seen beaming from a black persons face when some white person describes them or a family member or even just some good Negro hero in black society as a hard worker...This shit is disgraceful...It all stems from a need of white people to see us in a position of subservience and perpetually serving their needs for the continuation of their domination... You see, the problem that most black folks dont get because of our fixation on needing to be humanized like this in the white mind and also the thing that most white people will not only never give us credit for, but designate this behavior as one of the bad Negro or nigger is that we will never be praised for THINKING...In a racist society, the ability to think intelligently will NEVER be a trait or characteristic of a black person that is praised by white people because it is the only thing that a black person can do that doesnt reside in the service of continuing the perpetuation of the white supremacist society...To think is to be independent of influence from that which is not in your best interest and this is the LAST thing white society has EVER wanted from a black person in this world...
