Thought, since I have internet for a bit, I would update our friends out there that might be interested in knowing whats happening in Canso today. On the bright side, the sun is out, its warmer, the ice is melting and the winds have died down...this has allowed a helicopter to sweep the area for downed lines. They have found approximately 30 poles with the tops snapped off on the main Hydro line into town. They have spent the last two days replacing about a dozen downed poles, two of which are still down in front of our house. Challenge lies in getting to the hydro lines and getting the materials needed to do the restoration. Power crews and municipal employees are doing everything in their capabilities to deal with the situation. We could potentially be in the dark for days yet. The firehall is a hub of activity, with regular updates coming directly from those on the front line. Volunteers are graciously keeping people fed and spirits are good, as is our nature. The folks in Guys., the local co-op and bakery is providing food and supplies...along with a whole lot of other people. Thanks for all your concern and your messages. We are hanging tough. Sometimes Mother Nature forces us to stop and reflect, spend time with our families, care for each other and just remember to be patient.
