Thought you may be interested in this bumble bee nest, especially as I hung up my old tea pot at the suggestion of Bill Oddie on an earlier series of Springwatch. Nesting Robins and Blackbirds used it the first couple of years, but after hanging empty for some time, this year I was astonished to find the bees nest. We have been blessed with many Bumble Bee nests over the years, (always tried to make provision for them in walls and banks) but the thing that always attracts them to the garden seems to be a number of well-established Cotoneaster (horizontalis) shrubs. They produce hundreds of small insignificant pink flowers, which the bees adore. At this time of year these shrubs are alive with bees!
