Thoughts from Chief Sjolander... Being a good neighbor... With warmer weather we have more people outside having fun, doing work, and in some cases, causing problems with neighbors. Here are some of the more common complaints and concerns we as public safety officers hear. Recreational fires. These need to be small, enclosed, always attended, not used as a way to get rid of leaves, grass, etc. We had a report of young children using gas to start a fire! Please use common sense and remember, safety first. Animals. Its no secret that I like animals more than people some days, that being said, here are some key points. Keep your animals under control. No one likes to clean up after someone elses dog or cat. We have leash laws and all animals in the city limits should have a current city tag and be up to date on shots. Cut your grass, pick up the clippings, empty your trash, get rid of old non running vehicles, and debris that clutters up your property. No one wants to live next to Sanford & Sons place. ( thats a old TV show reference, YouTube it if you dont get it:) I love a good party, but that does not mean everyone does. Please keep noise down when its late and make sure you pick up after everyones leaves. Some people are trying to sell their houses, etc and having a bunch or cans or bottles lying in your neighbors yard can cause tempers to rise. I know some will look at this as a personal attack. Its not, its just me asking that we all try our best to be good neighbors and get along the best we can. I know we cant please everyone...All Im asking is we all try to do our part. I also know this is why some people perfer living in the country. Stay safe, Lee
