Thoughts from Chief Sjolander... Today Officer Mike and many - TopicsExpress

Thoughts from Chief Sjolander... Today Officer Mike and many others will make their way to say goodbye to Officer Scott Patrick as he is laid to rest. Tears, stories, handshakes, and hugs will be shared. Today is a somber day across our state, but its also a day of rejoicing and remembering a great father, husband, friend, and peace officer. To the city of Mendota Heights, their police department, and family of Officer Scott Patrick. We love you, we support you, we wish you the power to heal, and we as a state share in your loss. To the young officers attending a service like this for the first time. Look around at your brothers and sister in uniform. You will see its not just blue or brown. Its every color and we come from all walks of life. Your family is not just made up of peace officers, its firefighters, EMTs, dispatchers, corrections officers, and the many private citizens who love and support us. The life of a peace officer is a calling and some wonder why we answer it. Ill share with you why I and so many people do. Its because we love our public, we love serving, we love being a voice for those without one, and you will not find bigger hearts hiding under tough exteriors anywhere. Our family is just like yours. We can be mad at each other, we can go for long periods of time with out talking to one and other, but when evil rears its ugly head, we come together putting our difference aside and we work well together. Im honored to be a small part of this family. Stay safe, Lee
