Thoughts from a friend....being fb quiet for the past several weeks helped me to gather my thoughts...reflect...gain perspective...while I was serving on the mission field in July, my family life here at home took a bend in the road...our sweet, Meghan... home with us for at least the next year...finding her way as she transitions from college to life....my brother, Pete...working his way through life-changing cancer treatments at Mayo clinic to shrink the tumor that has invaded his brain...invaded all of our lives...without regard ...without notice...but not without hope...our nephew, Ryan and fiance, Nicole Sheaffer moving their wedding day ahead so my brother can attend...blessing them as they begin their new life together...our daughters...Samantha Rene Thomson and Katie Thomson both changing college majors and minors...growing...learning and becoming who God wants them to be...Christopher...almost driving age now...(that alone is enough change for this momma)...and Johns Aunt Marcia Thomson...home from Zimbabwe...returning cancer will quickly take her body...but Jesus holds her Spirit... after a life of giving everything she was to simply tell people about Jesus, she will soon meet Him face to face...all of this requiring me to find a way to embrace change...to say change is hard for me would be an understatement...and yet...here we are again...closely tied together...change and I. So, as I begin each day trying to embrace the change...I decided that in the face of change...anyone can give up...its the easiest thing in the world to do...but to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart...thats how I want to embrace change...with the strength that only Jesus can give...Blessings!!!! Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-17
