Thoughts of the day re: influx of immigrants Wel, after decades of dancing around the subject Congress has really put us in a pickle and we are the ones paying the piper. Obamas big move was to tell them not to come. We developed NAFTA...to develop jobs in Mexico and Central America to help increase their standard of living and hopefully keep people from coming. As we all remember, too clearly, the great loss of manufacturing jobs we Americans endured because of this act. Looks like that worked out well...NOT! Why?? Greed and corruption. I want to know how and why are these countries are freely letting children travel thousands of miles and not stopping them? We must start cracking the whip on these countries to clean up their act within their own boarders. We have poured huge amounts of monies into them in aid...Evidently it is not used properly. These countries are fraught with criminal cartels and poverty is rampant. Evidently their governments are doing nothing. So, why cant we tell them to clean-up their act.?..Take care of their people and be responsible by telling their people that they cannot come to the U.S.unless the go through official and legal process. The only aid that will be sent to them will be aid to get rid of the cartels and monies that is supervised by UN groups for approved humanitarian projects(keeping the money out of the hands of the corrupt governments) My heart breaks for these people and children but...we have much to consider here...the spread of disease, homeland security, and last but not least a strain on our resources. What is Mexico doing to keep people from crossing on their side? We have ignored this problem far too long ..it is time for Congress to grow a pair and deal with these issues instead of worrying about offending the Hispanic vote. I know they have offended me .
