Please don’t use double feeder food and water bowls. Did you know that cats do not like drinking water from a bowl that is next to their food? It is thought that the reason for this is that in the wild cats would not like to drink water from a source next to a carcass as it may have become contaminated by the food. Therefore it is very important to provide our feline friends with a water source that is away from food (ideally in another room – a bathroom is a good place to put a water bowl as it can be topped up easily). In addition cats prefer to drink from a ceramic bowl (plastic bowls can taint the water and make it taste a bit funny), and prefer to drink from a large surface, so dog bowls are often a better size for cats than cat bowls.
