Three day weekends are a marvelous invention. Alas I am spending the next three nights away from home as I go on yet another tour of the seats of rural counties in Northern California. Today, however, was a day of leisure at home. Up late, again. Published a bit more of my magnum opus, watched a pre-Charlie Chan Charlie Chan movie (Behind that Curtain ) in which Chan is on screen for about 1 minute, and later in the evening, a Spanish language production of Charlie Chan Carries On with English subtitles. Between those things, however, I got out the electric chainsaw and thinned the plums in front of the house, then thinned the pyrocantha. I only stopped when the chain fell off the bar. There is more to do but it will be the weekend before Im working in the yard again. I really should mow between the house and the law study for it has been growing at an alarming pace. In the winter it gets boggy and is almost impossible to mow so I should strike while the iron is dry, as it were. Chain sawing is such fun, tho. I will next address you from Weaverville, I believe.
