Three weeks longer for injured Khune 11 Mar 2014 Itumeleng Khune said on Tuesday he faced three extra weeks on the after the ankle injury he suffered last month, ruling out any hopes he might yet play in the derby match against Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday. The Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper and captain told reporters at a Absa Premiership trophy unveiling in Soweto that he would likely not play against this month. It means he misses out not only on key league games against Platinum Stars and Pirates this week but also the Nedbank Cup second round tie against amateurs FC Buffalo and the all-important African Champions League qualifying tie against ASV Club of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Khune sustained an injury to the outside of the leg just above the ankle in the warm-up ahead of the Champions League second round, first leg tie against Liga Muculmana of Mozambique at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. A scan showed a ligament above the ankle holding the two bones together had been injured. Khune has been in a boot for the remainder over the last week to allow the injury to settle. He has now began his rehabilitation. © supersport
