Through all the awful things happening around the world right now and the hate that is trying to segregate our beautiful nation, this video shows what our fellow aussies are facing everyday due to ignorance and descrimitive views, but it also shows what it means to be an Australian; standing up for a fellow Australian and speaking out against these hate crimes. Yes this is just one short video, but I would like to think that the people of our nation - being of any race or religion - stand up for what is right. We are all human, no matter our race or religion and what is going on in the world doesnt mean every Muslim person you meet is a terrorist. I grew up with quite a few Muslim friends and hearing about how their own families and themselves are having to face such hateful acts against them has just been heartbreaking. Originally I was just going to share this video, not actually write anything- but it happened... it just angers me that innocent people are being targeted because ignorant people are affiliating them with extremists because they share a religion. My family is Catholic/Christian, do you think we get affiliated with the abuse against children that was carried out by priests? No. So why attack an innocent? You end up being the terrorist by doing so. Just to be clear before anyone gets on their high horse, I speak of those who are innocently minding their own business that are being targeted with hate crimes. If the ignorant people who act out these hate crimes want to be patriotic, then join the army and go fight the actual terrorists.
