Through this page, we have been able to, in a way, keep Maureen alive. We have shared photos, videos, and stories. You have shared your reactions, prayers, and tears, and they have all touched us so deeply. To know that she has helped others smile, cherish life, take more pictures ... whatever ... that has helped us to feel that some rainbows have come from our storm. #Momotravels was a selfish way for us to allow our little one to be a part of you, to see the world, and be recognized for the free spirit that she was. Her life must mean and do more. With yesterdays post, someone posted a version of The Beatles Across the Universe. The video was reminiscent of Maureen, and when I looked up the lyrics, one part stood out in particular: Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns It calls me on and on, across the universe. Thats our sunshine! During our brief time in Phoenix, we had a room at the Ronald McDonald House. These locations allow places for families to stay when receiving treatment. The rooms are affordable, but they do not turn away families who cannot afford to pay. They survive on the generosity of others. During my time as a teacher last year, I kept a small collection box in my classroom for the can tabs which the Ronald McDonald Houses collect to raise money. (I honestly do not even recall how I got the box.) Because of our time there, we have committed to collecting can tabs, and some of our friends have joined in. Over the years, I have asked my friends and family to help us in various fundraisers and charity collections, and I am always amazed at the participation and generosity. Not everyone has spare income to donate, but we do ask that if you can, please consider collecting can tabs to donate. If youre in Yuma, I am happy to pick them up, and Ill even collect the entire can if need be. We will be donating them in her name to the Ronald McDonald House at 501 E. Roanoke Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85004. If you want to donate on your own at this location or another closer to you, please consider doing it in her name as well. If you would like to have a collection box, please let me know, and I am happy to pick one up for you and get it to you. Please share this message and encourage others to do the same. I KNOW that small endeavors add up over time. We are committed to doing what we can. Maureen was a giving young lady who did not complain when invited to participate in community service or events that helped others. Please continue in ways that she cannot. It all matters.
