Throwback Thursday: Late 80s or early 90s – watching Australia play a one day international cricket match at the SCG. Every January we used to have a mini-holiday and go to watch the cricket. We only had 3 Goldens at that time so could manage to have a more “normal” life. The very first time we went we were playing the West Indies in the Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards, “Big Bird” etc era and saw our team well and truly whupped! This was when Rod Marsh, Dennis Lillee and Greg Chappell all left the team at the same time. Luckily the Aussies then slowly started to improve under the coaching of Bob Simpson and eventually got back to/near the top of international cricket.
