... Throwback Thursday ... Remembering SADDI ... Still recovering from a physical and emotional abusive relationship, before Devon entired our hearts, SADDI spent a lot of time alone, long walks and lots of cuddling. One day we had a (now former) friend over to watch Blazing Saddles. We were both seated on the sofa and SADDI was laying on the floor. During one hilarious scene, this friend reached over and slapped my leg. SADDI thought she was hurting me and leaped up onto the sofa, seated between us and just inches from this friends face. i was shocked, but after more than a minute of SADDI being assured everything was okay, SADDI didnt move, just staring in her face. i was so proud of her for protecting me, but then i started to laugh. After about five minutes, i grabbed SADDI and put her on my lap, holding her tightly against me. During the rest of the movie, SADDI just sat next me, leaning her body against me. SADDI wouldnt allow anyone to touch me, even Devon. During those four years of abuse that SADDI had to witness, she was very confused and usually would hide outside or in the kitchen. After i found the courage to throw that evil psychopath out of our life, SADDI became even more protective of me. Even moments before she died in my arms, SADDI lifted her paw and placed it on my hand ... and then she was gone. Words cannot express how much i love SADDI and how very much she is missed.
