Thursday 20th November 2014, USA Minnesota Dilworth - Detroit Lakes (Pine to Palm motel) Distance: 69.85KM connect.garmin/activity/636885554 Good days distance today, perhaps a little bit too far really as very tired now and may pay for it the next few days, there was a lot of hills today the first for weeks, overall there was only a thousand foot ascent but it was rolling hills all the way. Id climb for several miles towards the top of the hill on the horizon only to see another taller hill on the horizon with a slight dip down before. All hills Id never normally see fit to write home about I love running mountains and these, certainly are not Mountains! However after thousands of kilometres of flat prairies these really tired me out! I planned on camping tonight at the legion family campsite right next to the lake, ran by the American Legion. I knew itd be closed for the season but guessed they wouldnt mind me pitching a tent in a campsite. However they refused saying its going to be too cold. I checked and theyre right its going down to minus 29 Celsius tonight (not windchill actual air temp) to put that into perspective its only 9 degrees warmer than the South Pole right now (I just checked real time temp) its -38 at the South Pole. A huge thank you to the pine to palm motel who donated me a room tonight due to the fact I couldnt camp with the crazy temperatures that shouldnt be here for at-least 2 months time.
