Thursday October 3, 2013. Luke 7:43-44, Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.” Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.” Lord Jesus, speak to me. As I meditate on this verse I think that you are telling me that if I truly hear and understand what you are telling then there should be some action on my part as a result. You told me earlier, in chapter 6, if I make judgments about others then that is the measure that I will be judged with. Simon started out judging both the woman and Jesus. From Simon’s view the women is bad because of what she has done. Jesus is bad because of what he has done. Jesus says Simon you say you are good but you have not accepted me with the hospitality normally afforded a guest in a prominent man’s house. You say the woman is bad but she has not stopped giving me attention since she came in. My actions are the standard by which you measure me. In Matthew 7, you state, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. The one who “does” is the one who will enter the kingdom of Heaven. Lord Jesus, teach me to do the will of your Father. Make me aware of my fellow man and his condition. Reveal to me your vision of what each person needs that I meet, and how I can help them to by meeting that need. Give me your love and your care for those around me. I love you Lord and what only to serve you. Amen.
