Thursday, September 18th, 5:30pm, at St. Rest Baptist Church: Faith In Community will be launching our civic engagement/voter turnout campaign for the November election. The purpose of this event is to bring clergy and leaders from different faith, ethnic, and economic backgrounds together to lift up a moral voice about how Proposition 47 brings restoration and redemption to our families and communities. Our civic engagement campaign is aimed at turning out 5,000 low-propensity voters in the November election, with a longer term of goal of bringing more Fresno voters into the democratic process of the city. Our civic engagement launch will take place Thursday, September 18th, at 5:30pm, in front of St. Rest Baptist Church. Speakers will include Bishop Armando Ochoa of the Catholic Diocese of Fresno, Dr. Janine Nkosi of Fresno State, Pastor BT Lewis of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, Rabbi Rick Winer of Temple Beth Israel, and a host of clergy, Fresno State students, and engaged residents. Following our launch we are going to participate in an early (and brief!) Night Walk in the St. Rest Neighborhood and engage residents, spreading a message of love, hope, and peace. Please join us and bring a loved one, as we lift up the need to invest in people, restoration, redemption, and not prisons. For more information on Prop 47: safetyandschools
