Thursday will bring outbreaks of rain across many central and southern parts of the UK, clearing later with sunny spells developing in the west. Northern areas will see sunny spells and heavy, slow moving showers. It will be a largely cloudy start to the day with outbreaks of rain for much of England, Wales and the Isle of Wight, and any early brightness across north eastern areas will soon disappear as cloud increases . Most of the rain will be light and patchy but there will be some moderate to heavy bursts at times, especially across south western parts of England during the morning and northern parts of Wales around late morning to early afternoon. Most of the rain will clear eastward during the afternoon with conditions turning drier and the cloud breaking to allow some sunny spells to develop, especially across western parts of England and across Wales. The rain may though linger for a while for an area roughly either side of a line running from Bristol through northern parts of central southern and south eastern England into north Kent. Northern Ireland too will see a largely cloudy day with some patchy, mostly light spots of rain at times but some late afternoon/evening sunny spells should develop. Scotland, the Western Isles and the Northern Isles will see variable amounts of cloud and some sunny spells. There will though be a scattering showers which will be mainly focused across northern Scotland, the Western Isles and the Northern Isles whilst some patchy, light rain will affect south western parts of Scotland during the afternoon. Some of the showers may be heavy and slow moving with the risk of thunder. For the Isle of Man it will be a largely cloudy but dry day with the slight risk of catching a shower. It will be breezy at times for much of England, Wales and the Isle of Wight, and later across Northern Ireland, but especially for exposed southern and western areas in south westerly winds. Further north across the Isle of Man, Scotland, the Northern Isles and the Western Isles, winds will mostly be light. It will be fairly mild across many sheltered southern and eastern areas with temperatures widely reaching between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius but as high as 16 to 17 degrees Celsius in a few spots where we get the best of any sunshine. For many western areas more exposed to the wind, particularly far south western areas of England, Wales, north west England, western fringes of Scotland and Northern Ireland, it will be a cooler day with temperatures here during the afternoon widely reaching between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius. Across most parts of the UK pollen levels will be low but will rise to moderate across north east England and central and southern areas of Scotland. UV levels for most areas will be low but moderate across Scotland, the Western Isles and the Northern Isles where we have the longest spells of sunshine in between any showers. UV levels are also likely to rise to moderate across Wales, western parts of England and Northern Ireland during the afternoon where we see any lengthy sunny spells developing.
