Time is running out to sign up for the FREE, life saving, CPR/AED training offered by the RB Community Council. 3rd Annual FREE CPR/AED Training: The Rancho Bernardo Community Council will be hosting the 3rd Annual CPR/AED training classes on Saturday, November 23, 10 am - 1:30 pm at the Rancho Bernardo Community Center, 18448 West Bernardo Drive, San Diego, CA 92127. This event will be training, not certification. Supporters of the event include San Diego Project Heartbeat, Rural Metro, Cardiac Science, City of San Diego, and San Diego Fire Rescue Department. All residents young and not so young are invited to participate. Each training session last 30 minutes. We encourage people to bring their children to this event, comments Robin Kaufman, President of the Rancho Bernardo Community Council. The youngest we have had in the past was two years old, with the oldest being 92 years old. We will not only be training people on life saving procedures in giving basic CPR and utilizing an AED, but we will also be teaching the children to call 9-1-1 and what to say when they call. The event will be held inside the community park gym, rain or shine. You do not have to be a Rancho Bernardo resident to attend. Those interested in participating in this FREE event are encouraged to register ahead of time for a time slot (10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm) by emailing: RBCommCouncil@aol by November 20th. Spots are already filling up, but walk-ins will be accepted. Come learn a skill that can save lives! There will be free refreshments donated by Sunshine Care and Three Alarm Coffee; free opportunity drawings at each session, including an opportunity to win a new Cardiac Science AED valued at $1,500 donated by Cardiac Science; and free goody bags for every participant. Donors of items in the goody bags include: local realtor Nancy Canfield; Chick-fil-A in Carmel Mountain Ranch; Palomar Health; Belmont Village; Wiindermere Homes & Estates; San Diego County Supervisor Dave Roberts; Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt of Rancho Bernardo; the San Diego Burn Institute, local realtor Patti Hall.
