Times of India NEW DELHI: IPS officer of 1983 batch O P Singh on Wednesday took over the charge of additional director general, CISF Airport Sector at CISF headquarters in New Delhi. Earlier, Singh was functioning as ADG (Security and Telecom) in UP Police at Lucknow. A post graduate in political science from Delhi University and an MBA in disaster management, Singh belongs to the Uttar Pradesh cadre. During his career spanning about 30 years, Singh has held many important and sensitive positions in UP addressing issues of law and order, crime prevention, crime detection, traffic management, managing mega events, community Policing, VIP security etc. He held the charge of senior superintendent of police Lucknow three times. He also served as police chief of Kumbh Mela at Allahabad in 1995. He successfully contained and handled terrorist activities in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh during 1992-93. Singh has served in Special Protection Group ( SPG). He laso served in CRPF as DIG and IG, a CISF release said. Singh has been decorated with Indian Police Medal for Gallantry, Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service and Presidents Police Medal for Distinguish Service. Besides many commendations/appreciations, he was honoured by the state government in 1998 for displaying excellent negotiation skills in settlement of long-standing religious dispute over religious processions in the old city of Lucknow. He is also the author of a book Urban Environment Conservation.
