Tiruvuru is a Nagar panchayat (Municipality) and Mandal headquarters in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India and is 75 km from Vijayawada. It is located on the Highway between Ibrahimpatnam to Jagadalpur (NH 221) and a good and peaceful place for retired and elderly people with number of hospitals across specialties are available in town. It is a business center for nearly 51 villages around it. Population of the town was around 60,000 as on 2012 Tiruvuru has a special place in history. Sri Krishna Deva Raya has visited this place during his Jaitra yatra(Victory Voyage) of Kondapalli in 1540. 20,000 Tamil Jains were murdered by Veerasaivas in olden days. the old is lakshmipuram. Economy[edit] Tiruvuru has been a large Business center for all the surrounding villages. Agriculture is the main occupation for large part of population with paddy being main crop. Tiruvuru is also developing as an agro-business centre rapidly. Mangoes that are grown in orchards around the town every summer are exported as far as United Kingdom and U.S.A and are well known for their own very special taste. This town has good communications with the Khammam district and the towns nearby are Khammam (60km away), Vijayawada (75km), Sathupally (25km), Kothagudem (40km) and Nuzvid (38km). Infrastructure[edit] Venkateswara temple is very famous and old. Every Magha pournima, Tirinallu will be there. All Tirus/Tiroos (people of Tiruvuru) will attend from various places and abroad. Kanaka durga temple, Anjanya Swamy (Patimeeda), Vinayaka Temple (Kummari Bazar), Astha Lakshmi Temole, Krishna Temple are other temples,Church of Christ,Tiruvuru paster : Indupalli Israel Mango gardens are very famous here. Telangana border starts from here only. Madhira Road, By pass road, Bose Bomma centre, Jaibhavi Centre, Chirala Centre, Factory Centre(or) k.N.R Center,Bypass Road, Santhi Nagar, Raju Peta, Ganesh Centre, Vaishnava Bazar, Pathur, Busstand Centre, Janta Halls Centre, Ashok Nagar, R&B guest house road, Shanti Nagar are main localities in Tiruvuru. The town has two Engineering Colleges and two B.ED Colleges along with few Private Junior colleges,Govt junior and degree colleges. There are 4 movie theaters in the town. Transport[edit] Tiruvuru has one bus depot. Every 18 minutes there is a bus service operated to Vijayawada, Badrachalam, Madira, Khammam and 25 buses operate to state capital city Hyderabad daily. Famous Nemali Sri Krishna Temple is just 1 hour from here. Kothagudem is 11/2 hour. Vijayawada 1hr and 40mins. journy. Nearest Railway station is Madhira and khammam. No. of autos are there to take passengers to the surrounding villages like Kallur, Sathupally, Munukulla, Akkapalem, Reddy gudem, Gampalagudem,G.Kothuru, Polichettipadu, Kakarla etc. No of transporters available to arrange vehicles like Indica, Kwalis etc. Entertainment[edit] There are four theaters in town: venkatrama theatre, venkateswara theatre, new palace theatre and krishna theatre.
