Tithing is a Doctrine that Has Never applied to New Testament Believers. It is & was a Tax on Levite Priest, now its used to build man made ministries of the flesh. To put a Congregation under A Legalistic 10% Tithe is the equivalent of putting people under Jewish Circumcision. Tithing IS NOT mentioned under the New Covenant. The Law has been fulfilled & only the Moral Law remains. If you Legalistically Tithe either to receive blessing or under obligation to The Law: You might as well not eat shellfish or wear polyester. If youre going to try to keep the Law, you might as well keep the whole Law. See Galatians 3. 2 Cor. 9:7 not Old Testament Laws set the standard for New Testament giving: Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. You are not required to give. You give because you are a New Creation in Christ as He purposes in your heart. And Jesus set the standard at much higher than 10% just look at the Cross & the Rich Young Ruler. If you do not give, its not a matter of your money being blessed or cursed rather is a matter of your Salvation. If He is not leading you to give, are you even saved? Yet we ignore this standard because it does not get money from the goats & its the act of putting the goats under The Law that builds big churches because the goats give to get. The sheep on the other hand give because they are led by the Holy Spirit. Gimmicks like this seem to turn God into a Lottery Ticket except with God you get 100% Return! So why do Many Mega Church Pastors put people under The Law? There are 613 Laws in the Old Testament most arent reaffirmed in the New. Eating Shell Fish & wearing Polyester are 2 examples! Why doesnt Mega Church Pastors put people under the Law when it comes to these types of things? Because it Does Not Profit them! They need your money! The Truth is if these Churches and Pastors focused on MAKING DISCIPLES of men and women they wouldnt have to BEG, PLEA & TWIST SCRIPTURE to get people to give. The problem is theyve created man made ministries of the flesh that they cant afford and they do not TRUST GOD to provide for. They are businesses men who depend on consistent income to fund their businesses. This is why gimmicks like this are used & Scripture is twisted that pertains to giving. If we focused on making Disciples as we are instructed to do, we would never have to beg, plea or twist Scripture because a Disciple will give according to what he has decided in his heart. If something is Gods Will for the church: God will provide. A man who has to beg and twist the very Word that God created is obviously not trusting God to provide and really you have to question if they even believe in the God of the Bible. Each one must give AS HE HAS DECIDED IN HIS HEART, not RELUCTANTLY or UNDER COMPULSION, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
