To all my DYST friends, I want to thank you for the year thats almost gone, for your support and companionship :-) Great group! Its been a mixed year for me, both in swimming and personally. My shoulders been troubling me all year. Even so, I did well at nationals, breaking two national masters records, 9 masters PBs and an all time PB in the 100 free :-) Four gold, nine medals total. My only LCM meet of the year, in May, was no success, my big brother having been diagnosed with terminal cancer the week before. His illness was short and brutal and he died in September. His illness was, more or less directly, the preamble of my getting to know Anoushka, and thats the greatest thing that happened this year :-) She introduced me to Open Water racing, and I won my age group and came eleventh all over (chicked by one). Later I did a 5k just under 64 minutes in Bergen, Norway. All rubber clad, of course ;-) I had shoulder surgery in August, an AC resection, and after a rather troublesome reconvalescence, its starting to look up. Im hoping to be back at full throttle some time this coming year. An intense, eventful, sad and great year. Anyway, a Merry Christmas to all of you :-) I wish you happy laps and glorious hours in your preferred body of water!
