To all of my international friends, More than 50 years ago, our grandparents took the risk, the courage to escape from their hometown in China to come to Hong Kong. Some swam over the borders at night, some paid for illegal trafficking, others hiked across in rural mountainous area, to find a way out so their next generations do not have to live under the sun of the Chinese Communist Party. As a result, our parents and ourselves had been brought up in a more liberal, justify, fair environment. This forms the cornerstones of our knowledge, moral, world views, wealth, achievements. Now, the communist party would like to tighten its grip and prohibit the democracy development in Hong Kong. Democracy development is a slippery slope and we had already seen enough backslides after the handover in 1997: student leaders were arrested and kept for no good reason; independent news channels was shutdown; editor of newspaper was attacked; major TV channels were forced to manipulate news; governments made policies in favor of the tycoons instead of the citizens. Because of the broken, non-democratic political system, the Hong Kong government answers more to Beijing than it does to Hong Kong people. Therefore, by all means and at all cost shall we the Hong-Kongese people defense our homeland to continue the dream that we had been flighting for since generations ago.
