To all our Candidates and electorate of the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas, the election of the Liga ng mga Barangay is set on December 18, 2013 (venue and time to be included in the notice) - synchronized elections nationwide. Schedule: 1. December 10-12 sending of notice of meeting for the organization of the different committees (Nominations committee; registration/credentials committee; election committee and Board of Canvassers) time and venue of the organizational meeting venue and requirements of the elections. 2. Dec 15 - organizational meeting 3. Dec. 15-17 filing of COCs 4. December 18 - election day Expect your notices between Dec 10-12. AGAIN! my dear representatives of the barangays, think 1,001 times before you make your decisions. The future of your organization is at stake. You make the wrong choice and you are doomed, make the best one and you will see reforms. Be vigilant, protect your organization. I will not tire saying this: the ABC is not an association of Punong Barangays, it is the association of barangays - the PB is representing the council, thus, your accountability is with your councils. Consult your council before you vote.... that is the proper way of doing it. Like any other decision done at the barangay level - the selection of the Liga City President should also be a collegial decision of the council. It may not be specifically provided in the law and your constitution and by-laws but it is clearly implied. SEC. 491. Purpose of Organization. - There shall be an organization of all barangays to be known as the liga ng mga barangay for the primary purpose of determining the representation of the Liga in the sanggunians, and for ventilating, articulating and crystallizing issues affecting barangay government administration and securing, through proper and legal means, solutions thereto. SEC. 492. Representation, Chapters, National Liga. - Every barangay shall be represented in said liga by the punong barangay, or in his absence or incapacity, by a sanggunian member duly elected for the purpose among its members, who shall attend all meetings or deliberations called by the different chapters of the liga. The liga shall have chapters at the municipal, city, provincial and metropolitan political subdivision levels. The municipal and city chapters of the liga shall be composed of the barangay representatives of municipal and city barangays, respectively. The duly elected presidents of component municipal and city chapters shall constitute the provincial chapter or the metropolitan political subdivision chapter. The duly elected presidents of highly-urbanized cities, provincial chapters, the Metropolitan Manila chapter and metropolitan political subdivision chapters shall constitute the National Liga ng mga Barangay.cralaw Read this if you havent yet.
