To the girl commenting on the AdelaideNow article about racism experienced by Africans in SA and how they should just get over it because she has experienced racism all her life due to having red hair and freckles and she has just moved past it and got on with it, I say to you, yes I remember in history class learning about how the red headed people had their land invaded and taken away, their children stolen, or when they were captured and enslaved and sent all around the world and sold and treated like animals. When they couldnt vote or were kept at the back of the bus or be allowed in certain areas of town. Or when your land was colonised and borders changed and forced to live somewhere you dont want to. Now you have finally been given the rights and supposedly be treated as everyone else but still you are racially abused for just sitting on a bus minding your own business and the only reason for that abuse is because of the colour of your skin (or hair in your case). I really see your point. Sorry for the essay but this girl has got on my nerves as had many of the comments made by people who do not believe racial abuse is happening in SA. I did comment on their opinions but I cant see it on the website. I say to people who say that it is not happening to Africans (or anyone of any other race)and they should not be protected then I say they cannot comment on something which they will never know about or experience. Rant over!
