To the people I work with at TRC I hope youre listening or watching. The vote for Consumer Council is next Wednesday and only one person is vying for anything. If theres no interest, theyre going to do away with it once and for all. Someone, name withheld, asked if TRC would listen. Heres my assumption: Five years ago it was only open to OPWDD people til someone said something. Then they opened it up to all of us. Someone brought up in one of these council meetings about the crosswalk needing to be repainted - it was at the time barely able to be seen. We/They worked on getting Direct Deposit for those of us who wanted it. We/They also worked on Employee of the Month as well, to hopefully inspire confidence in our workers, since many have self esteem issues. You have a Voice and I recommend you use it by running for it or nominating someone for it. Weve come a long way in just a few years.
